The Butcher of Plainfeild- Ed Gein

Ed Gein, known as "The Butcher of Plainfield," was an American murderer and body snatcher. While he is often mislabeled as a serial killer, he only confessed to killing two women. Gein became infamous for exhuming corpses from local graveyards and fashioning trophies and artifacts from their bones and skin. His crimes inspired several horror films, including Psycho, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, and The Silence of the Lambs. He was found legally insane and spent the rest of his life in a mental institution, dying in 1984.
